Pre paid legal inc. is a cult

i tried selling pre paid legal for about two yers.

hardly made a sale.

none of my friends gave a crap about it.

Pre-paid legal has worked well for us. First we had a lot of help in a matter that went to court and had a good result. That was over 10 years ago. Also we bought a car in 2016, and the dealership was not honest - they took the payoff of our trade-in and held on to the money for weeks! Didn't send it on to our loan company to pay off the trade-in. They wouldn't return our calls and we were riding around in a new car with nothing settled. We needed help!

We called the attorney office and explained what had happened, and the very next day got a call from the dealership, saying everything had gotten done. No explanation tho.

We've continued to pay our fee every month, which banks time to our credit, for when we need some help. But we haven't ever tried to sell for them.

there was on older white-haired circuit overseer in houston around 1989 or 1990. last name started with a w i think.... not sure though.

even the most brain-dead robotic elders told me he was offensive.

Two incidents I remember, but can't remember the CO's names. Both were old and out of shape, and loved the sound of their own voices. This was during the 90s.

One loved to criticize women, and during the public talk said "You women just let yourselves blow up like elephants once you're married!"

The other said, also during a talk, that he and his wife made sure to ask for hosts with no indoor pets. "No clean house has pets living indoors."

I never saw either one of them again, but maybe that was just coincidence.

Reinstatement Procedure

what else has changed?.

during the many years i have been df'd the org has printed a new bible, new song book, doctrinal changes, so has anything changed re reinstating someone?.

i'm contemplating the leap for family reasons but due to my job and young family commitments there is no way i would be able to attend every meeting for months on end.

Hi Kerry, wishing you much success in reaching the goals in your plans. Really you are wanting to go under deep cover, like a detective.

On the cop movies they show some people working undercover for a long time get very depressed. I’m sure I would be affected that way.

So just be aware and careful. A lot of stress in being different from your true self.

Stories about how governments knew about attacks but just did nothing, have shocked folks for many years, like how they probably knew about the plans to hit Pearl Harbor. People seem to be more convinced of it nowdays, than they were in the 60s when I was told the story.

I was even more shocked as an adult, when I read about the attack on a village in England that the government knew was going to happen. They had deciphered the code from the Enigma machine. But, they didn't want the enemy to know that they had captured the machine; so the decision was made (by Churchill, so the story goes) not to warn the population at all. If they had evacuated, the secret would have been revealed. Oh well, it was for the greater good - they just had no choice.

It was an accumulation of those kinds of stories that kept me from ever believing that there was anything that the government "wouldn't" do. Many years ago i had a conversation with a lady who clerked in the video rental store, about the JFK assassination, and I said that there were many people who might have wanted him out of the way - even vice president Johnson. Well she got all pursed up and said, "I don't believe Mr. Johnson would ever do anything like that." She never had anything to say to me after that!

I thought, Any politician in government would get rid of an obstacle standing in the way of their money/power, as easily as stepping on a cockroach. They do and say and lie and kill people without turning a hair.

Real reasons behind this change?

just a good conversation at home about the hour report change.. we think the change was not impmemented because the gb are such a lovely bunch of old grandpa's having the best in mind for us individuals.. there will be only, and we say only, an organizational reason for it.

a legal reason, to protect jw.org and it's officials and wealth.. next step?

maybe selling more kh and when jw hollywood studio's in rampoo are ready a change to tv subscription.. what do you think?

they are still requiring ppl with titles such as pioneer, elder, etc., to continue reporting time. Reckon how long before those pillars are deemed unnecessary, or the titles changed to something like Person Who Preaches About An Organization Because They Took A Notion To Do It.

I read a theory awhile back, that WT might be strongly motivated to get Tony stashed out of the way so he wouldn’t be readily available if CSA investigators wanted to see what he knows about Pennsylvania non-reporting elders/cover-ups, etc.

the twickenham post made me think of this.

i have a few jw family members on facebook and being summertime, their pics of the convention have shown up in my fb feed.

along with their comments about "i wished it would never end" or "what a glorious weekend".

We progressed from enjoying the gatherings in the beginning, to coping with constant stress, pressure, criticism, guilt and constipation. The things we did enjoy were taken away as the authoritarian control was expanded more every year- like walking around talking to friends and being introduced to friends of friends, was replaced by many bosses insisting that we get in our seats even tho the show wasn’t starting for a long time. What was THAT about, jeez. They really didn’t want people visiting at conventions, did they!

If I stopped to talk to a sister sitting by a contribution box, some guy with the gestapo would tell me i had to get away because i was distracting her! He probably had orders to do that in case i wanted to grab the box of money and run.

So much of being watched with suspicion instead of feeling welcome and free. So much judging, complaining, negativity, gossip, discouragement, despair of ever being good enough. I do not miss being told that the WT was more important than my own family responsibilities.

why are we interested in what is going on in the JW

for the most of us, we have left the jws...and even though we are no longer jw, many of us are still interested in their beliefs, doctrines and practices as currently practiced.

i was trying to sort out in my mind why i still care about what they are doing.

i think the answer to that is a hope that something will develop in the jws that will wake up a lot of others, and selfishly, a lot of my friends.

When i first found this site i stayed on almost 24/7. Reading everything, commenting, getting feedback, rinse, repeat. So many hurtful things were going on that led to us quitting the meetings, and our family cracked apart; a bunch of stuff happened. No more "friends" to talk to from the KH, so i just conversated here on this forum. I know it was good for me and just exactly what I needed, because more than 10 years later, I'm much more free of the thoughts about the JW topic, for longer stretches.

My theory is that the mind-controls installed in our emotions, thinking processes and attitudes are so strongly rooted, that it takes a long time to heal down through many layers. Reading all the info, CoC, watching the Royal Commission, writing about my experiences, etc. - all helps to heal the damage from being in a mind-control cult. I realize my inner emotions are getting detached from it all, a little bit at a time, and I don't think that would have happened if I had just tried to forget.

the question is, are we in the field doing enough to push for what is right!?.

there are always multiple ways of looking at an issue, and the viewpoint advocated by the catholic church, the mormon church and the watchtower church is that the provision of confession without the fear of being turned in to police allows an abuser to seek help to stop his abuse.

Money is the priority. Organized religion can’t risk a glitch in their money-making machines. Also they don’t want to acknowledge that the secular authorities outrank them. WT for one, now doesn’t just want to represent God, they say they Are God.

So having to report crimes of course seems to them a loss of authority. The children suffering is just collateral damage.

I remember a middle-aged jw couple who were living and traveling in a nice rv, "sampling" the kh's to see if they wanted to settle down in this town or that. This was in the mid-1980s.

They bought a convenience store in our town, seemed to me fairly impulsively. The inventory included cigarettes, which they were selling along with everything. The elders came and told them they needed to quit selling cigarettes, and furthermore to that, they needed to be getting to the meetings! They were telling us they didn't know how they were going to attend meetings, as they didn't have anyone besides the two of them to run the store. So my husband and I and another couple volunteered to take turns minding the shop so they could get to meetings - for free, of course.

Steve and I hadn't been married long, we were not well-off and were living in a literal shack. We were getting by okay. We had no idea these people had paid cash for the store, or had $50,000 in the bank, as the woman let slip one day when she was talking to all of us - "...And can you imagine, all we have left in the bank is $50 thousand!"

I said, WOW, well I think you two will be okay.
